Of course, while there are a few things people moving across the country can do to minimize risks of complications.
For starters, clients should pack their things up properly. Packing should be done as early as possible to avoid problems like forgetting to pack several items. Moving boxes designed to carry items, especially fragile ones should only be used. Do not substitute plastic bins or any other makeshift moving container as these might break easily. Also, avoid over packing boxes. If necessary, pack heavier items separately into smaller boxes. Use other essential packing supplies like packing peanuts or paper, bubble wrap, markets (for labeling boxes), and tape as well to secure the contents of each box.
As for more complex items such as appliances or heavy furniture, it is best to ask movers for advice before having them hauled away. For instance, certain appliances might need to be disconnected from water electrical, gas or water connections. These should be properly detached before the movers come.
Since we want each client’s belongings to reach their destination safely, we do have some restrictions on items we can move. We will not pack or transport frozen food, refrigerated food, produce, plants, and opened food products for long distance moves that would take more than 24 hours. All the same, we cannot move hazardous items such as acids, cleaning solvents, pool chemicals, fertilizer, darkroom chemicals, car batteries, ammunition and flammable substances.
